Abstract

Adolescence is a stage of great opportunities, but it is also a stage of high vulnerability changes; because adolescents are exposed to many risks. They have to make decisions about their sexual and reproductive conduct. Unplanned pregnancy is a threat to comprehensive development, since this unexpected situation can endanger the health of the woman and cut off opportunities for academic growth.

Although school dropout due to adolescent pregnancy is not a new problem in Peruvian basic education, the significant increase in cases in 2020 and 2021 draws a lot of attention from different organizations. There are many girls and adolescents who have not finished secondary education, because they had to face many difficulties when they got pregnant: discrimination, bullying, health problems and economic difficulties.

This research is focused on analyzing the relationship between pregnancy in adolescents and school dropout through the figures obtained from different countries; given that it is a problem shared by many societies in the world and the strategy to stop it has not been found, at least not to reduce it significantly. A systematic review of scientific readings has been carried out. about research in different countries that has been based on the number of students who had pregnancies while they were in secondary education.
